Mumbai, June 11 (IANS). The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction on Thursday said the 12-year tenure of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government does not match India’s governance tradition and shows a huge difference.
In an editorial published in the party’s mouthpiece ‘Saamna’, it was said that institutions like AIIMS, IIT and IIM were established under the leadership of Pandit Nehru. His tenure was focused on nation building, international respect and creating an environment free from communal and religious hatred in the society.
The editorial alleged that central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate, CBI, Income Tax Department and police have been used politically in the last 12 years. It also said that this has weakened the constitutional framework and affected the independence of the Election Commission and top judicial institutions.
The editorial said that during this period the Indian economy has weakened, the value of the rupee has fallen and the pressure on foreign exchange reserves has increased. It was also alleged that national interests have been favored by some big industrialists. Also, concern has been expressed over issues like increasing unemployment, increase in crimes against women and farmer suicides. It was also said that about 80 crore people are dependent on free ration.
Shiv Sena accused the current political dispensation of misrepresenting historical sacrifices and military events. It mentioned Operation Blue Star, Pulwama attack, Pahalgam incident and Kargil war.
The party said that earlier the British had looted the country, but in the present 12 years of the system the exploitation is even more serious.
Shiv Sena has demanded an impartial investigation or ‘audit’ of this entire tenure, so that India’s global and domestic situation can be properly evaluated.
