Bengaluru, June 22 (IANS). BJP MLC and former national general secretary C.T. Ravi cornered the Congress during a rally in Bengaluru after Congress leaders accused the BJP of being against democracy and the Constitution. On Monday he alleged that Congress was becoming anti-Hindu.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, C.T.Ravi said Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and recently appointed KPCC president B.K. Hari Prasad, made baseless allegations against BJP during Hari Prasad’s assuming charge ceremony.
whistle. Ravi said, “The people who are actually against the Constitution are the Congress leaders themselves.” He said the Constitution has images of Lord Rama, Lord Krishna and Gautam Buddha and argued that India should be guided by the ideologies of Buddha and Basavanna, which according to him promote harmony among all religions.
The BJP MLC said, “Indian thinking has respect for all paths and religions. The Supreme Court itself has described Hindutva as a way of life. The Congress leader makes allegations without understanding these aspects.”
whistle. Ravi further said that Hindutva is an important part of India’s identity. India cannot exist without Hindutva, otherwise it will become like Afghanistan or Pakistan. BJP is working for the poor and development.
He accused the Congress of being anti-constitutional and anti-democracy and said that the party amended the Constitution for its own political interests and misuse of power.
He claimed that till now the Constitution has been amended 106 times, out of which 76 amendments were made by Congress governments.
“Congress made these amendments for its own benefit and misuse of power,” he alleged.
Ravi also accused the Congress of weakening democracy by limiting fundamental rights and jailing opposition leaders during the Emergency. He said, “Congress itself imposed emergency, strangled democracy and limited the fundamental rights given by the Constitution. The same party is now talking about protecting the Constitution.”
He also alleged that the words ‘socialist’ and ‘secular’ were added to the Constitution without adequate discussion. He also alleged that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar had opposed such changes.
Ravi said, “You opposed Ambedkar’s thinking, yet you blame BJP. How is this right?”
Referring to leadership in democracy, Ravi said that leaders should emerge from among the people. He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a leader elected by the people. Rahul Gandhi is a leader who has come forward not by the people’s mandate but by political legacy. After Jawaharlal Nehru came Indira Gandhi, then Rajiv Gandhi, and after them Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. In a true democracy, leaders emerge only by connecting with the public struggles and the lives of the people.”
Ravi also alleged that Congress is practicing anti-Hindu politics and claimed that due to this attitude the party is losing power in many states.
