Bengaluru, July 23 (IANS). Karnataka BJP state president BY Vijayendra on Thursday alleged that the ongoing student protests over the NEET paper leak controversy have been used by anti-social elements to create unrest in the national capital. He claimed that by promoting goons, a conspiracy is being hatched to create a chaotic situation in India like Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Speaking to the media at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, Vijayendra said that policemen and media representatives were attacked during the protest. He said that students cannot do such things. He alleged that the Tukde Tukde gang was behind this violence and strongly condemned it.
Vijayendra also accused the Congress of trying to take political advantage from the NEET controversy despite the Central government taking immediate action in the alleged question paper leak case.
He said that as soon as the Modi government got information about the paper leak, it took immediate action and did not try to suppress the matter.
He said, “As soon as the issue of NEET paper leak came to light, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan ordered an investigation. Understanding the seriousness of the matter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government took all necessary steps. 13 people were arrested in this case in a single night.”
He alleged that the Congress and what he called the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) were holding the protest for political purposes.
Vijayendra said that Prime Minister Modi has always given priority to education and the future of the youth of the country. He said that the Central Government has taken several steps to ensure transparency in the examinations.
He said that the government has ordered to set up five fast track courts to investigate the NEET case and get the culprits punished quickly.
Referring to the action of the Central Government, Vijayendra said that normally it takes six months of preparation to conduct the NEET exam, but the Central Government conducted the exam again within 35 days and also declared the results within 25 days.
He said the central government is also considering implementing computer-based examinations, artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced surveillance systems to prevent such incidents in future.
Questioning the ongoing protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, Vijayendra alleged that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was abroad for 15 to 20 days and during that time he did not show concern for the students, but as soon as he returned, he started protesting near the Prime Minister’s residence.
He said that Union Minister JP Nadda has already talked to a delegation of protesters and understood their concerns. He said that asking for the resignation of any Union Minister is not a solution. The Central Government is ready to discuss NEET in Parliament for as many hours as required.
Accusing the Congress of playing with the future of the youth, Vijayendra said that the Congress remained silent on issues like police action against job candidates in Dharwad and the stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
He also alleged that despite the NDA government’s efforts to expand higher education opportunities by increasing the number of MBBS seats, medical colleges, PG medical seats, IITs and IIMs, the Congress is trying to create unrest.
