Citing incidents of crime against women in Bihar, Congress on Thursday alleged that daughters are helpless in the ‘Trouble Engine’ government and in such a situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has no moral right to ask for votes from women.
Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also claimed that the people of Bihar have made up their mind for change and are going to oust the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) from power.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday alleged that Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders are insulting Chhathi Maiya to get votes in the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar.
Addressing an election rally in Muzaffarpur, Modi claimed that Chhath Puja is a ‘drama’ for Congress and RJD leaders but the people of Bihar will not forget or forgive this ‘insult’ for years.
Ramesh posted on Crimes, including sexual violence, against women are at their peak.” He claimed that with each passing day, the graph of sexual crimes against women increased and the sensitivity of the government decreased.
Ramesh said, “The peak of this was seen in the month of May this year – an 11-year-old Dalit girl, who was the victim of brutality, was brought to Patna Medical College for treatment in a critical condition. But he was not given a bed in the hospital for eight hours, and he died in the ambulance itself.” He claimed, ”The Prime Minister comes, makes a lot of false promises in his election speeches, entertains the public for a few moments and goes away. Not a single word comes out of his mouth on the atrocities being committed against women and how can it come out, when heinous allegations have been made against the ministers of his own government.
Ramesh said that in 2018, a heinous and humanity-shaking case like the Girls Home incident had come to light in Muzaffarpur, where more than 34 minor girls were sexually abused for a long time. He says, “In the investigation, allegations were made against the husband of the then minister Manju Verma, after which he resigned. Yet in 2020 he was given the ticket and now his son has been made a candidate from the same constituency.
According to him, this month, a semi-nude body of a 13-year-old girl was found in a pond located behind the residence complex of former minister Manju Verma in Cheriya Bariyarpur, Begusarai and initial investigation indicates that she was murdered after sexual violence with the minor.
The Congress leader said, “After many such incidents, does the Prime Minister have any moral right left on the soil of Bihar to ask women for votes?” Ramesh claimed, “The people of the state have made up their mind for change this time. She has resolved to overthrow this government through her vote.
