New Delhi, March 19 (IANS). Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Thursday launched ‘Vidhan Sathi’, a special AI-enabled chatbot for its MLAs, making Delhi the first assembly in the country to launch such a tech-enabled feature.
Addressing the MLAs, Gupta said that members of the Assembly often have to deal with complex laws and policy issues in limited time. Vidhan Saathi, designed as a dedicated legislative research and support tool, is our endeavor to assist them with clarity, context and reliable information, so that every debate in the House is informative, thoughtful and purposeful.
He announced that this system will be implemented from the upcoming budget session, which begins on March 23.
Gupta said the move signals a decisive shift towards data-driven, technology-enabled legislative functioning.
The chatbot is designed to assist members with data-based analysis and information on Bills, Acts and policy issues.
Members can also upload screenshots of bills or reports to get instant analysis and contextual understanding, enabling more informed and effective participation in legislative discussions.
Gupta said its primary objective is not just to provide access to documents, but to help members analyze complex issues and present well-reasoned, evidence-based arguments in the House.
Designed for easy use within the House, ‘Vidhan Sathi’ is accessible through a dedicated QR code on each member’s desk and a direct digital link, eliminating the need for downloads or additional steps.
Gupta said that this facility is being made available exclusively for 70 members of the Assembly, and its access is strictly limited to them, thereby ensuring a secure and institution-specific legislative support framework.
Vidhan Sathi is specifically designed for the functioning of Delhi Assembly. This process is based on rules, prior debates, committee reports, and legislative records, ensuring that the information provided is relevant and institutionally sound.
