New Delhi, June 19 (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday recommended the transfer of 74 government doctors to Lieutenant Governor TS Sandhu. These also include 39 doctors who have been posted in Tihar and Mandoli jails for more than 5 years. This step has been taken to improve health services.

According to the Chief Minister, this recommendation has been made as part of efforts to strengthen the administrative structure of healthcare services and make human resource management more effective.

According to the recommendation, it has been proposed to transfer 39 doctors working in Tihar and Mandoli jails for 5 years or more. An official statement said that this list includes both specialist doctors and General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs).

The statement said that many of these doctors have been posted at the same place since 2014 and their tenure has been more than 11 years. This proposal also includes the deployment of about 35 other doctors in their place. In total, around 74 transfers have been proposed.

The statement said the chief minister believes that periodic review of human resource management and postings can help improve the efficiency of healthcare services.

The Chief Minister said that the Delhi Government is continuously working to make different units of the Health Department more efficient, responsible and focused on public welfare. He said that the aim of the government is to ensure better utilization of available human resources and strengthen institutional capacity, so that citizens can get good healthcare facilities.

He said that administrative reforms, balanced use of resources and culture of accountability are necessary to strengthen the healthcare system. With this view, the deployment of human resources in the organizations is being reviewed and corrective steps are being taken wherever needed.

The Chief Minister said that in the same spirit, a large-scale human resource restructuring was recently carried out in the Central Procurement Agency (CPA) under the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

Under this process, more than 40 medical, paramedical and administrative officers and staff were transferred. Experienced medical officers from different hospitals and health institutions were also deployed to strengthen procurement, supply and administrative arrangements.

The Chief Minister said that the aim of the government is to ensure availability of necessary human resources in every unit of the health department, strengthen institutional capacity and make better use of the available resources.

The recommendation for transfer of doctors posted in Tihar and Mandoli jails for a long time is also part of this broader process of administrative reforms and human resource management.
