Patna, June 16 (IANS). Former Chief Minister of Bihar and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Council Rabri Devi has sought one more month’s time to vacate the government residence located at 10 Circular Road in Patna after the expiry of the 15-day deadline given by the administration.
After the expiry of the ultimatum, former CM Rabri Devi submitted an official letter to the officials asking for more time.
In her application, former CM Rabri Devi has cited the health of her husband Lalu Prasad Yadav as the main reason for asking for more time.
According to Rabri Devi’s letter, doctors have advised that Lalu Prasad Yadav be kept separate from other family members as he is at high risk of infection.
Rabri Devi told that on medical advice, a separate room was specially arranged for her in the house at 10 Circular Road.
He said that the family will move to another place only when similar arrangements are made in the newly allotted house i.e. 39 Harding Road Bungalow.
Lalu Prasad Yadav has been facing many health related problems for the last few years. He had a kidney transplant in Singapore in December 2022, in which his daughter Rohini Acharya donated the kidney.
He also underwent open heart surgery at the Asian Heart Institute in Mumbai in 2014 and according to reports, he also underwent angioplasty at the same hospital in 2024.
Recently, he again went to Singapore for a medical check-up.
The Bihar government has allotted a bungalow at 39 Hardinge Road to Rabri Devi as she is the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council.
Meanwhile, according to reports, the house at 10 Circular Road has been allotted to Nand Kishore Ram.
After Rabri Devi initially refused to vacate the bungalow, the Patna administration on May 31 issued her a last 15-day notice directing her to hand over possession of the property. That deadline has now passed.
The house at 10 Circular Road has been associated with the families of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi for a long time. This bungalow was originally allotted by the Nitish Kumar government in 2005 to Rabri Devi being the former Chief Minister.
Although the Supreme Court had later ordered that the bungalow be taken back from the former Chief Ministers, the Bihar government later re-allotted it to Rabri Devi as the leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council.
Lalu Prasad Yadav and many of his family members still live in this house.
