Chandigarh, June 10 (IANS). Punjab Government Minister Harpal Singh Cheema gave information about the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. He said that the Punjab government will provide the facility of free travel in buses to the students going to appear for NEET exam. This facility will also be available to one family member accompanying the students.
The minister said that the Punjab government has decided to give a lump sum relaxation of 5 years in the age limit to the candidates for recruitment to 1013 lecturer posts. Direct recruitment of 156 engineers in the Public Works Department has also been approved. To strengthen flood protection before monsoon, de-silting works of canals and drains are being carried out at a rapid pace.
Referring to the Mann Sarkar, the Minister said that another public-friendly and sensitive decision of the Mann Sarkar was taken in the interest of the students and their families. More than 28,000 students going to appear for NEET exam will be provided free travel facility in Punjab government buses for three days. Not only this, this facility will also be available to one member of the family accompanying the children. This decision will not only reduce the financial burden on thousands of families, but will also give courage to the children to move forward towards the important milestones of their future without any worries. The Hon’ble Government is making every possible effort to fulfill the dreams of the youth by giving priority to education.
On the other hand, he participated in the program organized under the ‘War against Drugs’ campaign in Dhirba and appealed to the people to actively contribute in the fight against drugs being run by the Mann government. On this occasion, 30,000 digital ration cards were also distributed to local residents. With the receipt of these ration cards, people’s problems will end and protection of their rights will be ensured. People wholeheartedly thanked the Mann government for this step taken in the interest of the poor.
Referring to the 12-year tenure of PM Modi, he said that on one hand the Mann government is working hard to create a vibrant Punjab for the youth, increase employment and improve the education infrastructure, while on the other hand, the BJP government at the Center, during whose tenure papers have been leaked 29 times. This proves that this party is playing with the future of millions of children of the country. Taking a strong stand against the anti-youth policies of the BJP, the Mann government is committed to making continuous efforts for the betterment of the new generation.
He said that while strengthening the welfare of employees and transparent management, the Hon’ble Government has taken a historic decision to abolish the contract system. Now contract employees will directly connect with the government and better protection of their rights will be ensured.
On the letter written by 20 TMC MPs to the Lok Sabha Speaker, he said that the Constitution which was made by Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, was made after thinking very carefully about what are the needs of this country. But what is happening today is that a person wins from another party but joins BJP. This is a big threat to the democracy of the country. I understand that BJP is selectively targeting all the opposition parties. 140 crore Indians will gather one day and give an answer to BJP.
