Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Mumbai on Tuesday, where he will meet French President Emmanuel Macron and the two leaders will inaugurate the India-France Innovation Year 2026, according to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
President Emmanuel Macron will be on an official visit to India from 17 to 19 February at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this visit he will participate in the AI Impact Summit organized by India and hold a bilateral summit with the Prime Minister in Mumbai. This will be President Macron’s fourth visit to India and first to Mumbai.
The official statement said that the two leaders will hold bilateral talks at Lok Bhawan in Mumbai on February 17 at around 3:15 pm. During this talks, he will review the progress made in India-France strategic partnership. Their discussions will focus on strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding it to new and emerging areas. Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will also discuss issues of regional and global importance.
The statement further said that at around 5:15 pm, the two leaders will inaugurate the India-France Innovation Year 2026 and address a gathering of business leaders, startups, researchers and other innovators from the two countries.
Macron’s upcoming visit takes place against the backdrop of the ever-deepening partnership between India and France in the areas of defence, space, civil nuclear energy, climate action, education and people-to-people exchanges.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders will exchange MoUs in Mumbai, following which a press release will be issued. The India-France Innovation Forum will be organized at Hotel Taj Mahal Palace, followed by the India-France Year of Innovation and Cultural Commemoration at the Gateway of India.
Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Madame Brigitte Macron will visit Mumbai and Delhi during their visit to India from February 16 to 19, the ministry said.
The Innovation Initiative for the Year 2026 will be celebrated throughout the year in both the countries and aims to deepen cooperation in innovation, technology, research and people-to-people exchanges.
This will be French President Macron’s fourth visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi, signaling continued momentum in the India-France strategic partnership with a special focus on artificial intelligence (AI) cooperation and emerging technologies.
