New Delhi, July 16 (IANS). BJP national spokesperson RP Singh gave his reaction on many issues including the alleged ‘Kalma’ homework controversy in a school in Hyderabad, ED action in Uttar Pradesh, women’s reservation, Akhilesh Yadav’s proposed Rath Yatra in Uttar Pradesh. During a conversation with news agency IANS, he defended the policies of the central government while targeting the Congress and the opposition.
On the controversy over allegedly teaching ‘Kalma’ to a non-Muslim student in a school in Hyderabad, RP Singh said that attempts to influence young children in the name of religious education cannot be accepted at any cost. First, issues like ‘Love Jihad’, then ‘Property Jihad’ and ‘Land Jihad’ were discussed and now efforts are being made to convert children through education. If this has happened then the concerned state government should take immediate action and ensure strict legal action against the teacher involved in the case.
On the action of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against the alleged network linked to terrorist funding and Bangladeshi-Rohingya infiltration in Uttar Pradesh, RP Singh said that this is a big revelation. Anti-national activities in the state and alleged funding to foreign nationals have been exposed. Strict action against such activities is necessary for national security.
On Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s talk about implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) while maintaining social unity, the BJP spokesperson said that the UCC will not create any bitterness in the society. He claimed that this law will strengthen social harmony and protect the rights and interests of Muslim women in particular.
On the statement of Congress leader Jairam Ramesh regarding women’s reservation, he said that BJP wants the number of Lok Sabha and Assembly seats to increase after the completion of the delimitation process, so that the number of seats reserved for women can also increase. He alleged that Congress is adopting a contradictory stand on women’s reservation and is playing politics instead of supporting the efforts of BJP.
On the proposed Rath Yatra of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, RP Singh said that those who were earlier seen standing with those who questioned the existence of Lord Ram, are now talking about taking out the Rath Yatra from the Ram temple. If Akhilesh Yadav starts his journey from Ram temple, then first he should go to Ayodhya and have darshan of Ramlala.
On the ongoing internal dispute in Punjab Congress, BJP spokesperson said that the Congress party has completely failed to maintain coordination among the many contenders for the post of Chief Minister. He said that many senior leaders in the party are in the race for the post of Chief Minister and the top leadership is not able to establish coordination among them. This is the reason why Punjab Congress is constantly struggling with internal strife.
On the statement given by Congress leader Saifuddin Soz regarding Article 370 and internal autonomy in Jammu and Kashmir, RP Singh said that it is in line with the old policy of the Congress. He claimed that Congress’s 2019 election manifesto had also talked about the restoration of Article 370 and all the Congress MLAs had supported it during the resolution passed in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in November 2024. The Congress leadership, especially Rahul Gandhi, should clarify whether the party still favors special status or greater autonomy for Jammu and Kashmir. Describing Soz’s statement as extremely objectionable, he said that Congress should present its clear stand on this issue before the country.
