Government accepted that documents related to Nehru were not missing, will there be an apology: Congress

Citing the written reply of Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in the Lok Sabha, the Congress on Tuesday said that if the truth has come to light that no documents related to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru are missing from the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library (PMML), will there be an apology in this matter?

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, while sharing a copy of the starred questions and answers asked in the Lok Sabha on Monday, wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Yesterday finally the truth came out in the Lok Sabha. Will there be an apology now?

In fact, MP and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sambit Patra had written a question in the Lok Sabha whether during the annual inspection of PMML in 2025, certain documents related to the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru were found missing from the museum?

In response, Culture Minister Shekhawat said, “During the annual inspection of PMML in 2025, no document related to the first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was found missing from the museum.”

The BJP had last year claimed that letters written by first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to various personalities were taken from the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (now PMML) to the residence of former Congress president Sonia Gandhi in 2008. He was told that these documents should be returned.
