New Delhi, July 20 (IANS). Before the beginning of the monsoon session of Parliament, opposition parties have accused the government of avoiding discussion on issues of important public interest. Opposition leaders, including Congress MPs Gaurav Gogoi and JB Mather, said that the country wants a discussion in Parliament on NEET exam, alleged irregularities in the offerings made for the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, paper leaks and other important issues, but the government has not yet set any clear agenda or time in this regard.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, while talking to news agency IANS, said that these issues are directly related to the people and the entire country is keeping an eye on them.
He alleged that the government has not yet clarified which issues will be discussed in Parliament and when the discussion will be started. The government should take such steps that the public can be assured that their concerns will find a place in the Parliament.
Gogoi said that it has been clear for a long time that the government does not seem ready to discuss major issues. He said that Ram Mandir, NEET and other topics of public interest are the major issues in the monsoon session, but the government does not seem to have any clear action plan yet.
Congress leader JB Mather also accused the government of ignoring the opposition’s demands. He said that the smooth functioning of Parliament is also the right of the opposition, but for this the government will have to take the opposition into confidence and pay attention to the serious issues being raised. He clarified that the objective of the opposition is not to disrupt the proceedings of Parliament, but to ensure discussion on matters related to the public.
JB Mather alleged that the government has started the monsoon session in a bad manner. Questioning the calling of NCPI in the all-party meeting, he said that the opposition has already put forward its demands and demanded discussion on issues like paper leak.
At the same time, CPI MP P. Santosh also targeted the government and said that the biggest demand of his party in the monsoon session is the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He said that there is resentment in the country over the controversies related to NEET and other examinations, but the government is not taking it seriously.
