Ranchi, April 19 (IANS). Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee has accused the Central Government of ‘cheating’ half the country’s population in the name of women’s reservation and hatching a deep conspiracy to gain power.
In the press conference held at Congress Bhawan on Sunday, State President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh, Legislative Party leader Pradeep Yadav and Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh jointly attacked the Central Government on the issue of women’s reservation.
State Congress President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh said that the Modi-Shah duo wants to hang women’s reservation by linking it to the 2011 census and delimitation. He alleged that the government’s intention is not to give rights to women, but to take political advantage through delimitation.
Giving an open challenge to the government, Kamlesh said, “If the intentions are clear, then leave the pretext of census and present a bill to implement 33 percent reservation on the current 543 seats in the 2029 general elections itself, the opposition will fully support it.”
Responding to Prime Minister Modi’s address to the nation, he termed it an ‘election speech’. He said that even before BJP was born, Congress had given leadership to women like Annie Besant, Sarojini Naidu and Indira Gandhi.
Congress legislature party leader Pradeep Yadav said that when the bill was passed unanimously in the year 2023, then what was the need for a new amendment suddenly?
He alleged that the government is running away from the census because it would reveal the real number of SC, ST, OBC. The central government is resorting to ‘delimitation’ to cut reservation for ST, SC, OBC and minority women, which has been exposed by the opposition.
Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh said that the arithmetic set by the BJP for the next elections has been decoded by the opposition. This is why BJP is embarrassed by the failure of the bill for the first time. At the same time, State Mahila Congress President Rama Khalkho announced that Congress will expose the conspiracy of the Central Government by running a movement in every district of the state against this political conspiracy.
