Amritsar, 4 November (IANS). A batch of Sikh pilgrims from Amritsar left for Pakistan on Tuesday under the banner of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). He will take part in the holy celebration of Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The group will participate in religious programs at Nankana Sahib and other historical Gurudwaras in Pakistan.
On this occasion, Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh accompanied the group. He prayed for the success and spiritual benefits of the journey.
Before departure, Akal Takht Sahib’s Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh spoke to the media. He told that the government has issued visas to the devotees, but the langar of Kartarpur Sahib is not completely open yet. Kartarpur Corridor is not just a pilgrimage route but also a ‘medium that connects hearts’.
He said that he is confident that the government will soon fulfill the pending demand of complete opening of the corridor. Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the last days of his life in Kartarpur Sahib. This place holds great spiritual significance for the Sikh community.
He said, “The only wish of every Sikh is to go to this holy place to pay obeisance without any hindrance.”
He suggested that in future, pilgrims should be allowed entry through Aadhaar-based identification instead of passport.
Delivering a spiritual message on the Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak, the Jathedar reminded the Sangat of Guruji’s three golden principles, Kirat Karo (earn honestly), Naam Japo (chant the name of God), and Vand Chhako (share with others).
He said, “These teachings are the foundation of Guru ke Langar, which even today inspires equality, service and unity in the society.”
He prayed for world peace, harmony and early release of Sikh prisoners.
A devotee said, “I am going to Pakistan for the first time. It feels like a dream to participate in this holy pilgrimage. I am very happy.”
