Sambhal, 25 September (IANS). Gulabo Devi, Minister of Secondary Education Department in Uttar Pradesh, has once again raised the demand to change the name of Sambhal district. He suggested that Sambhal can be named ‘Kalki Nagari’ in view of religious and cultural importance.
He said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been urged in this regard and this demand is constantly coming out from the local people.
Gulabo Devi said during an event in Sambhal district on Thursday that the names of many districts, cities and routes have been changed in Uttar Pradesh in recent years. The name of Sambhal should also be changed in this sequence.
He said that Kalki Dham is located in Sambhal, which has special significance in Hinduism. It is believed that Kalki, the tenth incarnation of Lord Vishnu in future, will appear here, so it would be appropriate to name Sambhal ‘Kalki Nagari’ in honor of this holy site.
The minister also said that if the Chief Minister wishes, Sambhal can also be named after a great personality.
He said that this issue has been discussed earlier and the locals are in favor of this change.
Gulabo Devi, Minister of Secondary Education Department, said, “I have spoken to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on this subject. This change is necessary in view of public sentiments.”
The demand to change the name of Sambhal is not new. In the last few years, the Uttar Pradesh government has changed the names of many places, such as Allahabad has been named Prayagraj, Faizabad as Ayodhya, and Mughalsarai has been named Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar. These changes have been made with the aim of restoring historical, cultural and religious importance.
