New Delhi, February 5 (IANS). MP Hema Malini met Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at Delhi Secretariat on Thursday and discussed various issues related to development.

In a message released on social media, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said, “Various topics were discussed on the occasion.”

Earlier, on the occasion of World Cancer Day, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in the ‘Jan Jan Jaage, Cancer Bhage’ campaign at the NDMC Convention Center along with Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Pratap Rao Jadhav.

Addressing the program, the Chief Minister said that a serious disease like cancer affects not only the body but also the mental strength of the person, self-confidence and the financial condition of the entire family.

He stressed that the fight against cancer should not be limited to treatment alone, but also requires collective cooperation of the society and human sensitivity.

CM Rekha Gupta said that Ayushman Arogya Mandir is gradually becoming the backbone of primary health services in Delhi. At present, about 350 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are operating in the capital, where free screening of mouth, breast and cervical cancer along with medicines, vaccination and necessary testing facilities are being provided.

He said that under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, crores of people across the country have got health protection and till now more than 43 crore people have been registered under it. Lakhs of people in Delhi are also taking health benefits under this scheme.

The Chief Minister also informed that more than 16,000 Jan Aushadhi Centers have been established across the country, where many medicines are available at up to 90 percent cheaper rates. These centers are also being continuously expanded in Delhi to provide affordable and quality medicines to the common people.

CM Rekha Gupta said the central government has allocated a budget of Rs 10,000 crore for Delhi’s major central hospitals—AIIMS, Safdarjung and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

With this, the medical infrastructure will be strengthened, modern equipment and better facilities will be available, so that patients can get better, accessible and respectable treatment. He said that the Delhi government will stand strongly with all the institutions working in the field of public service and health.
