New Delhi, October 13 (IANS). Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi met former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Late at the Ridge Ground in Shimla on Monday. Virbhadra Singh’s statue unveiled.

During this, many leaders including Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Virbhadra Singh’s wife and State Congress President Pratibha Singh, Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh, State Congress in-charge Rajni Patil, Party General Secretary Sachin Pilot, former in-charge Rajeev Shukla, MP Deependra Hooda were present with him.

On this occasion, Priyanka Gandhi started her address by paying tribute to former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. He said that Virbhadra Singh was a person who had Himachal in his every fiber. Referring to an incident at a tea shop, he said that Virbhadra Singh’s personality was so friendly that the public did not feel that he was the Chief Minister, the public considered him as their own.

The Congress General Secretary said that such connection of leaders with the public is the tradition of Congress, which has been going on since the time of Nehru ji and Indira Gandhi. He said that today Chief Minister Sukhu also follows the same tradition, he lives a simple life and always listens to the public and lives among them.

Raising the issue of the disaster in Himachal Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi also made strong allegations against the Central Government of neglecting the state. He said that despite the severe devastation caused by heavy rains and landslides in the state, the Modi government did not provide necessary help due to the Congress government being in power.

Expressing anger, he said that here families were uprooted, houses were washed away, schools were destroyed, but no help was received from the Centre. He said that till date the central government has not given the help that the Sukhu government has asked for. This is because BJP’s politics is limited only to winning elections. Where Congress is in power, the needs of the people are ignored.

Priyanka Gandhi said that today our country most needs such leaders who work for the welfare of the public instead of publicity. Citing the example of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, the Congress General Secretary said that he speaks fearlessly in the interest of the country. They represent the same ideology on the basis of which this country was formed, on whose values ​​the Congress Party has run and will continue to run in future too.

He said that today we need a politics which is committed to development, education and employment. He regretted that the Modi government at the Center is not doing this type of politics.
