New Delhi, April 19 (IANS). Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to lead several high profile road shows on Sunday in the final phase of Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
On Sunday, Amit Shah will begin his election campaign with a road show in Modkurichi assembly constituency in Erode district, where he will garner support for BJP candidate Kirthika Shivakumar.
The western region is considered strategically important for the party and the leadership is focusing on reaching out to voters directly in the region.
Later Amit Shah will travel to Chennai for another big road show in support of BJP candidate Tamilisai Soundararajan. As part of his tour of the city, he is also expected to offer prayers at the Kapaleeshwar Temple in Mylapore before the road show.
Senior BJP leaders said the two road shows were aimed at energizing party workers and strengthening last-mile mobilization in both western and northern Tamil Nadu.
“Our focus is on establishing direct contact with voters and garnering support in the final phase,” a party official said.
The visit is part of a broader campaign by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), under which top leaders are intensifying their campaign in the state. Home Minister Shah is also expected to offer prayers at Kapaleeshwar Temple in Mylapore before the Chennai roadshow.
Coimbatore City Police has imposed tight security measures across the city and diverted traffic to facilitate these journeys.
As the election campaign enters its final phase, the BJP is banking on high-impact public relations and the presence of senior leaders like Shah to maximize its electoral prospects in the state.
