New Delhi, July 21 (IANS). Union Health Minister JP Nadda visited Lady Hardinge Medical College and Hospital to inquire about the condition of the protesters and policemen injured during the recent protests in Delhi. During this time, he took detailed information about the treatment arrangements from the hospital administration and also met the admitted patient to inquire about his well being. Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Himani Ahluwalia shared information about the visit and the treatment given at the hospital.
Dr. Himani Ahluwalia told IANS that a total of 83 injured patients were brought to the hospital on Monday night. These included both protesters and policemen who suffered injuries during the protests. The medical team of the hospital treated all the injured immediately and provided necessary medical facilities. The visit of Union Health Minister JP Nadda was with the aim of taking stock of the condition of the injured admitted in the hospital and ensuring that they are getting better medical care.
Dr. Ahluwalia said that it is a matter of relief that no patient in the hospital reached such a serious condition that he had to be admitted for a long time or required treatment in the ICU. However, he said that one patient has suffered such injuries, due to which he is still admitted in the hospital ward. The Union Health Minister took detailed information about the condition and treatment plan of this patient. JP Nadda spoke to the team of specialist doctors treating the patient and learned what kind of treatment would be given further.
He told that after this the Union Health Minister himself came to meet the admitted patient and inquire about his well being. He assured the patient that if any kind of assistance is required during treatment, the Central Government will provide all possible support.
Medical Superintendent said that during the visit, JP Nadda also reviewed the preparations of the hospital. He asked the hospital administration what kind of arrangements were made at the time of the incident, how many patients arrived and how the medical team handled the situation. Giving complete information to the minister, the hospital administration said that all the doctors, nursing staff and other health workers were providing services with full readiness. At present the situation is completely under control and the hospital is fully prepared to deal with any emergency in future. If any further patient requires additional medical assistance, the entire hospital staff will be available to provide immediate care.
He said that all the injured were kept under observation for some time after treatment. When doctors were satisfied that the patients’ condition was stable and they could go home safely, they were discharged from the hospital. Necessary medical instructions have also been given to all the discharged patients.
Dr Ahluwalia further said that patients who need to come to the OPD for further follow-up check-up or who require any kind of medical assistance at a later date can contact the hospital. The hospital administration is fully committed to providing medical assistance as per the requirement of all the patients.
