Impact of guarantee schemes in Karnataka, hope of power in Kerala, shocking results in Tamil Nadu: DK Shivakumar

कर्नाटक में गारंटी योजनाओं का असर, केरल में सत्ता की उम्मीद, तमिलनाडु में चौंकाने वाले नतीजे: डीके शिवकुमार

Bengaluru, May 4 (IANS). Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress president DK Shivakumar on Monday said the Congress government’s guarantee schemes have yielded positive results in the state. Expressing confidence in the election results, he also commented on the results of other states.

Speaking to the media, Shivakumar said that the guarantee schemes in Karnataka have worked in our favor. Our government has solved the problems of the people, and that is why we have seen good results in the by-elections. Among other states, we were confident of coming to power in Kerala.

Responding to a question about the low victory margin in Davangere South, he said that after so much turmoil, we knew that a margin of 25,000-30,000 votes would not be possible. But we were confident of winning comfortably. SDPI had an impact.

On the role of SDPI votes, he said that the Chief Minister has already talked about this. I don’t want to say anything more on this. We did not take SDPI lightly. It is also a political party and has won minority votes.

When asked whether the election results would bring any change in Karnataka, he said nothing would happen in our state. Some people may be happy and some may be disappointed. Even when there was a double engine government, they did nothing.

On the performance of the UDF alliance in Kerala, Shivakumar said, “We had won the local body elections there earlier. The LDF has been in power for 10 years and people wanted change. Even during the election campaign, people had expressed confidence in us.”

He described the results of Tamil Nadu as surprising and said that a new era has begun there. We could not fully understand the public mood. Local leaders had also indicated this. Relationships and relations are not broken so easily in 40 years of politics.

When asked about the absence of Rahul Gandhi and MK Stalin during the election campaign, he said that I will not comment on it. We went there as per the decision of the High Command.

When asked if celebrity popularity affected the voting, he said that we expected around 30-40 percent votes, but he got even more votes than that.
