New Delhi, December 8 (IANS). Amidst the discussion on ‘Vande Mataram’ in Parliament, Congress MPs have targeted the government. Imran Masood said that India today stands on the basis of the blueprint of Jawaharlal Nehru. Had it not been for Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, these people (BJP) would not have existed.
While talking to news agency IANS, Imran Masood said, “Pandit Nehru was very kind-hearted and he took everyone along. He incorporated all the ideologies within himself. India today stands on the basis of Jawaharlal Nehru’s blueprint. India had nothing. The people of the country had no grains to eat and no clothes to wear. At that time, grains and clothes came from outside. At that time, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru made India self-reliant.”
During the discussion on ‘Vande Mataram’, regarding the ruling party’s blame on Jawaharlal Nehru, Imran Masood said, “Pandit Nehru comes in their (BJP) dreams every morning and evening. Had Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru not been there, these people (BJP) would not have existed either.”
Meanwhile, Congress MP Ranjit Ranjan said, “Since there are West Bengal elections now, they are remembering Vande Mataram and Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. Sadly, the government works only on election mode, but remember that one day history will remember you too. Someone will be giving a speech for you too.”
The Congress MP said, “This is being discussed only for the elections. We have also seen ‘Anand Math’, where people were working to fight to take on the British, keeping aside the caste system. In the same revolution, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee wrote the song ‘Vande Mataram’, but the way the government is doing the work of exhuming the dead bodies, is it reducing Delhi’s air pollution? Indigo flights are being cancelled, other airline companies are charging higher fares. They are collecting money, but such issues are not being discussed.”
She said, “I want to ask the government under whose pressure Delhi’s air pollution is not reducing. There is only one eco-sensitive zone left of Ganga, under whose pressure you talk about cutting six thousand trees?”
