In NEET paper leak case, not just arrest, action should be taken on entire network: Priyanka Chaturvedi

Mumbai, May 16 (IANS). Regarding the arrest in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi said that in NEET paper leak cases, not only arrest but action is needed against the entire network. He stressed on the mental stress of students and the need for strong examination security system.

Priyanka Chaturvedi said that this is a failure of the system itself. It was talked about in the year 2024. In 2024, this matter went to the Supreme Court. The Education Minister had assured that this kind of work will not happen in the future. A committee of seven members was formed. The committee reported that there should not be a pen-to-paper examination. There should be a computer-based examination. No work was done on this. The report remained in cold storage.

He said that now when the paper was leaked again in 2026, the investigation was started. Arrests are being made on the basis of investigation. He asked what about those children whose future was played with. What about those children who lost their lives? Why are we not able to give assurance to the children that the examination will be full proof and the papers will not be leaked? Wherever its roots lie, action should be taken against all.

Regarding SIR, Priyanka Chaturvedi said that even though the process of SIR is the responsibility of the Election Commission, but the way the process of SIR was seen taking place in West Bengal, it became clear that the work was done to remove those who are supporters of the opposition from the list. This brings to mind whether this process is fool-proof. If it is not so, then who will take responsibility for it?

He said that the process of SIR should be transparent. Whoever is a legal voter, his right to vote should not be taken away. This is our expectation.
