Inflation is increasing due to global wars, situation will improve in the coming months: Prashant Phukan

Guwahati, May 25 (IANS). Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and former Assam minister Prashant Phukan on Monday attributed the continued rise in prices to global conflicts and said the situation is expected to gradually improve in the coming months.

Former Assam minister Prashant Phukan told reporters that inflation and price rises are not issues limited to Assam or India alone, but are part of the broader global economic situation driven by international conflicts and instability.

“The price rise we are seeing today is linked to the global situation. Wars and conflicts are taking place across the world, and these events are impacting the economy and prices everywhere,” the BJP leader said.

According to Phukan, the current international environment has disrupted economic stability and put pressure on the supply chain, thereby impacting prices of essential commodities and other goods.

However, he expressed hope that the situation will stabilize over time and inflationary pressures will gradually subside.

He said, “I am confident that the situation will improve after some time. Gradually the situation will get better.”

Phukan said the rise in prices is largely a result of the current global environment, which is shaped by geopolitical tensions and ongoing wars around the world.

He further said, “The environment created by conflicts is one of the major reasons for the inflationary trend.”

These comments come at a time when rising prices of essential commodities, fuel and daily use items have become a major political issue across the country, and opposition parties have been repeatedly targeting the BJP-led governments at both the Center and states over inflation.

The BJP says several global factors, including international conflicts and supply chain disruptions, have significantly contributed to the rise in prices.

Phukan’s comments reflect the party’s stance that the inflation situation is part of a broader global economic challenge rather than being a local issue.
