New Delhi, March 7 (IANS). On the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Diwas 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the people. He said that this initiative shows our commitment to ensure that every citizen gets quality medicines at affordable prices.

Along with this, PM Modi also shared a glimpse of the transformative impact of ‘Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Yojana’. MyGov India writes, “Healthcare systems are strongest when they are accessible and inclusive.”
The post further reads, “Jan Aushadhi is improving the lives of millions of people by ensuring that essential medicines remain affordable and accessible. Its growing presence in towns and rural districts is not only strengthening access to healthcare, but also strengthening local entrepreneurs and communities.”

According to ‘MyGov India’, countrymen have so far saved more than Rs 40,000 crore by taking cheap and quality medicines from Jan Aushadhi Kendras. Every day more than 15 lakh people are expressing their trust in this initiative by purchasing quality and affordable medicines from Jan Aushadhi Kendras. In just 12 years, the network of Jan Aushadhi Centers has increased from 80 to 18,000.
Moreover, the sales of Jan Aushadhi Kendras have increased from Rs 7.29 crore (2014) to over Rs 2,000 crore, reflecting the confidence of the countrymen on affordable and quality medicines. At the same time, more than 2,110 medicines, 315 surgical products and essential medicines of 29 treatment categories are available at Jan Aushadhi Kendras, so that every citizen can get affordable and quality health care at one place. The sale of more than 100 crore sanitary pads, available at just Re 1 per pad at Jan Aushadhi Kendras, is empowering the hygiene, health and dignity of women across the country.
In the ‘X’ post of ‘MyGov India’ it was told that empowering the leadership of women, about 60 percent of the new Jan Aushadhi Centers opened in the last three financial years are run by women.
