Ranchi, May 23 (IANS). Amid the severe heat wave in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday directed district administrations and government officials across the state to ensure uninterrupted drinking water availability to the public.
The Chief Minister directed Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, police station officers, circle officers, block development officers, panchayat representatives and all government offices to make adequate arrangements for drinking water in public places and outside government establishments.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to immediately address the problem of water shortage in the affected areas by sending water tankers, repairing broken hand pumps and making alternative arrangements where necessary.
He said that also, all the Deputy Commissioners will ensure that wherever there is water crisis, immediate water supply through tankers, repair of hand pumps and other alternative arrangements are made.
Emphasizing the need for humanitarian and prompt administrative response during the extreme heat, Soren said that no village, hamlet or locality should face shortage of drinking water.
He further said that no village, hamlet or locality should suffer due to lack of drinking water – it is our collective responsibility. During this scorching heat, the administration should work with complete sensitivity, promptness and humanitarian approach. Public interest is paramount.
There has been a severe heat wave in Jharkhand for the last few days, with the temperature remaining above 40 degrees Celsius in many districts.
