President of Telangana Jagruti K. Kavita, who was acquitted in the Delhi Excise policy case on Friday, thanked the judiciary, terming the case as politically motivated and saying its main motive was “political vendetta”.
Speaking to reporters, Kavita emphasized that the judiciary has exposed all the lies present in the case and expressed her gratitude to those who stood by her.
K Kavita said, “I have said a hundred times that we have nothing to do with this case. It is a politically motivated case. Under political vendetta, this case has been foisted on the opposition parties and I am grateful to the judiciary that they have upheld our faith in the judiciary of this country. Today the judiciary has demolished this entire web of lies… I am very grateful to all those who supported me in that difficult situation.”
He also stressed that the truth and victory cannot be hidden, adding that his father and the BRS party have always said that the vendetta against the party and him, K. The action taken against Chandrashekhar Rao has affected him too.
K Kavitha said, “Truth has prevailed. Truth can be hidden, but it can never be defeated… Not only me, KCR Garu himself has repeatedly said that this is a vindictive case against BRS and KCR Garu, which has affected Kavitha. I have said that this is a false case, a politically motivated case… Who will be answerable for the time spent with my children? Who will be answerable for the time spent with my family?”
Kavitha’s son Devanpalli Anil Aditya also expressed happiness over the decision, saying that this was a politically motivated case, which has come to an end.
Anil Aditya told reporters, “Very happy. This was a very politically motivated case and it has finally come to an end. We always knew this and the people of Telangana always knew this and now the judicial courts have also demanded the same. Satyamev Jayate.”
Of. Kavita’s lawyer Nitish Rana said that the court has acquitted all the accused in the excise policy case, because the court found that the CBI investigation was not proper. He also said that the court and the judge objected to the use of the term “South Lobby” and that once the core offense is dismissed, the money laundering case cannot be pursued further.
Rana said, “The court has today acquitted all the accused on the grounds that the CBI investigation was not good and there was no evidence or material on the basis of which charges could be framed. I had represented K. Kavitha and Arun Pillai in this case and both have been acquitted. The court and the judge took exception to the use of the term ‘South Lobby’. Once the core offense is dismissed, the money laundering case cannot be pursued further.” Because the money laundering case was going on under the guise of a scheduled crime, the money laundering case is also automatically dismissed.”
A special court in the national capital on Friday acquitted all 23 accused, including former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, in the case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
This order was pronounced by Special Judge (PC Act) Jitendra Singh of Rouse Avenue Court. The Court ruled that there was no widespread conspiracy or criminal intent in the formulation of the excise policy and that the prosecution’s case did not stand judicial scrutiny.
According to the Court, the CBI attempted to fabricate a conspiracy story, but its theory was based on mere speculation rather than solid evidence. The judge concluded that there was no prima facie case made out against any of the 23 accused and ordered their acquittal.
The court strongly criticized the investigation methodology adopted by the agency, particularly its reliance on witness statements. The court said that it is unfair to grant pardon to an accused, make him a witness and then use his statements to fill the loopholes in the investigation or to implicate other accused. The judge warned that allowing such conduct would be a serious violation of constitutional principles.
