Bengaluru, June 5 (IANS). Newly appointed Chief Minister of Karnataka DK Shivakumar on Thursday night distributed portfolios among the 13 members of his cabinet. The list of department allocations has been sent to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for official notification.
Chief Minister Shivkumar has retained Finance, Cabinet Affairs, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), Intelligence Department and other undivided departments.
Yatindra Siddaramaiah, son of former Chief Minister and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Siddaramaiah, has been made a minister for the first time. He has been assigned the much-awaited Urban Development Department.
Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has been given the Revenue and Sports departments. He held the Home Department in the previous government.
K.H. Muniyappa has got the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs portfolio. K.J. George has been given the responsibility of Energy and Tourism Department. M.B. Patil has got the Department of Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure. Ramalinga Reddy has been assigned the Water Resources (Major and Medium Irrigation) department. Satish Jarkiholi has been given the Public Works Department (PWD).
Krishna Byre Gowda has got the responsibility of Greater Bengaluru Development Department. Under this, Greater Bengaluru Authority, various municipal corporations, Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board and Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation will be under them.
Priyank Kharge has been assigned the Home Department (except Intelligence Branch), Information Technology and Biotechnology (IT-BT) and E-Governance Department.
U.T. Khadar has been given the Health and Family Welfare department. Earlier he was the Speaker of the Assembly.
Bairathi Suresh has got the transport department. Sharan Prakash Patil has been assigned the Department of Medical Education and Skill Development. Ishwar Khandre has been given the responsibility of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDPR) department.
After the formation of the new cabinet, there was a long wait for the division of departments. Now after the approval of the Governor and issuance of notification, the department allocation will formally become effective.
