Bengaluru, April 12 (IANS). Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday expressed deep grief over the demise of famous Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle, saying the film industry has lost a great voice.
In a condolence message, he said Asha Bhosle entertained music lovers for decades with over 12,000 songs, and has left an unmatched legacy in Indian cinema.
He said that Asha Bhosle’s melodious voice, simple nature and loving nature have won her a permanent place in the hearts of people for generations.
The Chief Minister said that his demise has broken an important link between the old and new generations of music, leaving a void in the industry that no one can fill.
He prayed that the soul of the great singer may rest in peace and hoped that her family, friends and fans would find the strength to bear this loss.
Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said, “I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the demise of Asha Bhosle ji; she was a great personality whose voice defined many generations of Indian music.”
He further added, “His unmatched contribution to the world of music, marked by his timeless songs and extraordinary versatility, will continue to inspire both artists and audiences.”
Union Minister Kumaraswamy said, “My deepest condolences to his family, fans and the entire music fraternity. May his soul rest in peace.”
State BJP president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra has expressed deep condolences on the demise of well-known singer Asha Bhosle.

Former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai has expressed deep condolences on the demise of renowned Bollywood playback singer Asha Bhosle, and described the news as extremely sad.
In a message posted on social media platform ‘X’, Bommai said that with her melodious voice, Asha Bhosle won the hearts of music lovers for many decades, and hundreds of immortal songs sung by her will remain in our memories forever.
He said that he sang thousands of songs in more than 20 languages and made invaluable contribution to Indian music, for which he was awarded many prestigious honors including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He said that his demise is an irreparable loss to the music world and the whole world has lost a great artist.
He prayed that God may rest his soul in peace and give strength to his family and millions of fans to bear this loss.
