Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, expressed her gratitude and relief after a Delhi court acquitted her husband and party leader Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case.
Speaking to reporters, she said, “Today I want to thank God. Arvind ji lived his entire life honestly. But these people (BJP) sent Arvind ji and his associates to jail. I believed that truth would prevail. I want to thank all those who supported us.”
Earlier, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was warmly welcomed by his family when he reached his residence. Family members hugged him, Manish Sisodia was also with him.
Let us tell you that this morning itself, Rouse Avenue Court acquitted former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
The court found that the alleged central conspiratorial role could not be proven. The court found that the allegations “did not stand judicial scrutiny” and found “no criminal intent” on the part of Manish Sisodia. The court further stated that the conspiracy theory “cannot stand before a constitutional right.”
After being released, Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal became emotional outside the court and insisted that he was not corrupt, adding that the court had said both he and Manish Sisodia were “honest”.
Speaking to reporters, Kejriwal accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of hatching the biggest political conspiracy of independent India. He also alleged that the BJP planned to eliminate the Aam Aadmi Party by targeting its top five leaders and added that he had always said that “truth prevails.”
Kejriwal said, “I am not corrupt. The court has said that Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are honest. Today the court has acquitted all the accused in this case. We have always said that truth prevails. We have full faith in the Indian justice system. Amit Shah and Modi ji together hatched the biggest political conspiracy to destroy the Aam Aadmi Party and 5 big leaders of the party were put in jail. The current Chief Minister was dragged from his house and put in jail. Kejriwal is not corrupt. I have earned only honesty in my life. Today the court has said that Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Aam Aadmi Party are honest.”
Manish Sisodia also praised the court’s decision and said that truth has won.
He said, “Satyamev Jayate. Today once again I feel proud of the visionary thinking of Babasaheb Ambedkar ji and the Constitution written by him. Despite all the efforts of Modi ji’s entire party and all its agencies to prove us dishonest, today it has been proved that Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are completely honest.”
