New Delhi, May 19 (IANS). Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday criticized the Central Government over the latest increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. He alleged that the government is putting the burden on common citizens while trying to hide the failures of its policies.
Kharge’s comments came as state-run oil marketing companies increased petrol and diesel prices for the second time in less than a week, amid rising global crude prices.
Kharge said on social media platform
Taking aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over India’s oil imports and foreign policy, Kharge said that PM Modi, who falsely claims to be a world leader, has taken a one-month extension of permission to buy Russian oil from America by tying hands. Every time by doing this they hurt the self-respect of 140 crore Indians. No previous government has done this before. Now the question is that if according to the government, we are ‘permitted’ to do so, then why is the burden of petrol and diesel prices still being passed on to the common people?
He said that I repeat once again: There is a severe lack of vision and leadership in the BJP. He alleged that when the crisis hit, they were busy with elections and indulged in ‘sweet talk’ while planning to ‘loot’ the public.
Kharge said that merely doing sponsored PR abroad does not make one a ‘Vishwaguru’… Modi ji, accountability towards the public has to be ensured. Don’t run away from real questions… these don’t matter like ‘how do you eat mango’ and ‘which tonic do you drink’. If you answer what you yourself are doing to deal with this crisis, then only you will be called a real ‘pradhan sevak’ of the public, otherwise you will remain just a ‘propagandist’.
