New Delhi, February 4 (IANS). The opposition raised the issues of falling value of rupee, economic inequality, employment of youth and social harmony in the country in the Parliament. Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge raised this issue and cited international reports and said that international reports are highlighting the ever-increasing economic inequality in India.
He said that more than 9 lakh 70 thousand posts are vacant in the central government. At the same time, more than 50 lakh posts are lying vacant in states, police and public sector etc. While discussing the President’s address proposal, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said that the trade deal with America is anti-Indian farmers.
He said that this is an anti-farmer trade deal; He called it the result of failed foreign policy. Kharge said that America repeatedly insults India on the world stage. President Trump claims he stopped the India-Pakistan war by threatening a trade deal. Kharge said that Hindu minorities are being attacked in Bangladesh, yet our government is silent. For the first time since 1971, China, Nepal and Bangladesh are coming together. Nepal is claiming areas like Kalapani and Lipulekh of India as its own. Our trade deficit with China is continuously increasing. Trade deficit with China has reached Rs 116 lakh crore.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Kharge said that those who once talked about showing a red eye to China are now rolling out the red carpet of trade for China, while China is staking its claim on Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh after Galwan. China is deciding economic relations with India on its own terms. He said that this trade is increasing when the government says that China was providing intelligence help to Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack, yet it is being welcomed. He said that foreign policy failures are not limited to abroad; They arise within the country as internal security lapses.
Kharge said that since 2014, during the tenure of this government, more than a thousand Indians have been martyred in more than 2300 terrorist attacks. Kharge said that you want to make foreign policy a weapon of domestic polarization. Such misuse for electoral gains is dangerous for democracy and foreign policy. He said, “I want to know from the government what kind of India they want to create, a symbolic India or a real democratic, socialist, secular and sovereign India. Their avoidance of an India of judicial independence, equality and fraternity is visible.
Kharge said that you have hurt and disappointed the interests of the poor, women, deprived, backward, Dalits, tribals, students, minorities, farmers, and workers. He said that just talking doesn’t help; Work has to be done for the people. He said that we can wake up a sleeping person but one who is pretending to sleep cannot be woken up. He said, do you want to build a developed India on the foundation of hatred and division? He said that Manipur is burning and the government has remained silent. At least 200 people died in violence between two communities there.
He said that the country is going through a very dangerous phase in terms of social harmony. Our country has been the birthplace of many religions and cultures, where all people have flourished in mutual harmony. He accused the ruling party of politics of polarization. He said that selective targeting and bulldozer politics are being used strategically in the country. He talked about social inequality and quoting a report said that the top one percent of the people have about 40 percent of the country’s wealth, while the top 10 percent have two-thirds or about 65 percent of the wealth. Even at the income level, the top 10 per cent of people account for 58 per cent of the national income, while the bottom 50 per cent of people account for only 15 per cent of the total wealth.
