Gonda, June 27 (IANS). Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, while reacting to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s remarks regarding President Donald Trump’s proposed visit to India, said that at present, global geo-economics is changing rapidly and the nature of international relations has also become more dynamic than before.
He said that today’s era is such where almost all the countries of the world are giving top priority to their national interests, economic development and welfare of the citizens. For this reason, countries are entering into Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to promote mutual cooperation, establishing new economic partnerships and moving towards strengthening multilateral relations.
While talking to IANS, Kirti Vardhan Singh said that the economy has emerged as the most important factor in the current global scenario. Industries, corporate sectors and business activities around the world are now deeply interconnected with each other.
He said that every country is looking for new economic partners to ensure energy security and food security and is developing international relations in line with its long-term strategic vision. He said that this is the reason why the importance of economic cooperation and strategic partnership between countries is continuously increasing at the global level.
Kirti Vardhan said that at one time America felt that products manufactured in India were reaching there at relatively low tariffs, due to which it was worried about competition. However, now on the initiative of Prime Minister Modi, various issues are being resolved through trade talks between the two countries and a positive balance is being established in bilateral relations.
He said that this is not only benefiting India and America, but also the economies of both the countries. He clarified that this change is not limited only to India and America, but widespread changes are being seen in economic priorities and trade relations all over the world.
The Minister of State for External Affairs said that ever since Prime Minister Modi took over the reins of the country, his main objective has been to make India stronger economically, strategically and globally. On the other hand, President Trump’s main goal has also been to carry forward the resolve to ‘Make America Great Again’.
Kirti Vardhan Singh said that if the views of both the leaders are seen in a broader perspective, then there is a lot of similarity in the priorities of both, because both give the highest place to the interests of their respective countries and give special emphasis on development and economic strength.
