Just ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, political excitement has reached its peak. In this election, a direct contest is being seen between the ruling TMC and the main opposition party BJP. In this context, Union Home Minister Amit Shah—who had reached Nandigram to file the nomination of Suvendu Adhikari—made a big announcement, posing a direct challenge to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He announced that he will remain in West Bengal continuously for the next 15 days, so that he can take charge of the election campaign himself. Addressing party workers on Thursday, Amit Shah said, “I intend to stay in Bengal for 15 days during these elections. I have come here specifically for the nomination of Suvendu Adhikari. Suvendu’s victory will lay the foundation for change in Bengal.”

*Didi will have to face defeat in Bengal’

Making a direct attack on Mamata Banerjee, Amit Shah remarked that while last time Didi had lost in Nandigram, this time she would face defeat not only in Bhawanipur but in entire Bengal. He asserted that Suvendu Adhikari’s nomination is the beginning of the downfall of TMC in Bengal. Shah emphasized that the people of Nandigram will repeat history this time and will show Mamata Banerjee the way out of power.

I have visited the whole of Bengal’

He claimed, “I have visited every corner of Bengal, and wherever I go, the same voice echoes: ‘Say goodbye to Mamata Banerjee.’ Even before the elections begin, wherever you go in Bengal, the same sentiment is heard everywhere—that it is time to bid farewell to this government and say goodbye to Mamata Banerjee.”

Raising the burning issues troubling the state, the Home Minister said that the people of Bengal are completely fed up with the extortion racket and hooliganism of TMC. The youth are plagued by massive unemployment and bomb blasts that occur almost every day. Repeated bomb blasts across the state have completely destroyed the security system. He further alleged that the TMC government has given protection to infiltrators, a situation that is changing the demographic makeup of the state. Shah promised the youth that if the BJP government comes to power, unemployment will be completely eliminated and a new wave of development will be brought in, so that Bengal can regain its old identity.
