Bhopal, April 30 (IANS). Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday said that Madhya Pradesh is continuously moving towards prosperity and is on the path of development on the lines of Gujarat.
The Chief Minister said that the state is becoming prosperous like Gujarat. He attributed this to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the support of the Central Government for important development initiatives in the state. CM Yadav said these things while addressing the ‘Krishi Karmayogi’ (agricultural worker) orientation training and workshop organized at Ravindra Bhawan, Bhopal.
Highlighting the major projects, the Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh has got three important river-linking projects, which are expected to significantly improve water availability and boost the agriculture sector.
He said that the Ken-Betwa Link Project is benefiting the Bundelkhand region, while the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) Project will provide irrigation and water facilities to many districts of Madhya Pradesh as well as the neighboring state of Rajasthan.
CM Yadav said that the Central Government has contributed about 90 percent of the total cost of the project, which shows its commitment towards water security, expansion of irrigation and rural development.
He also informed that people of many districts of Rajasthan have expressed their gratitude to Madhya Pradesh for building consensus on the PKC project and helping in its progress. Describing Madhya Pradesh as the ‘motherland of rivers’, the Chief Minister stressed the need for effective utilization, conservation and scientific management of water resources.
He said that just as Gujarat developed with the blessings of Mother Narmada, similarly we are also working to bring prosperity to our entire state by using the water of Narmada. The Chief Minister stressed that water conservation is extremely essential to strengthen the agriculture sector and ensure its sustainability in the long run. Every drop of water is important for the future of farmers and agriculture.
He also stressed on the government’s efforts to modernize agriculture through technology adoption, better coordination and better service delivery mechanisms. He said that initiatives like e-governance, ‘Sarthak’ app, improvement in fertilizer distribution and stubble management are being given priority.
Referring to the ‘Farmers Welfare Year’, he said the schemes of 16 departments are being integrated through a coordinated approach to ensure overall development of farmers and rural areas.
The Chief Minister said that such initiatives and workshops will play an important role in improving agricultural productivity, increasing farmers’ income and supporting the rural economy. He further said that continued focus on water management, infrastructure development and innovation will help Madhya Pradesh achieve long-term growth and prosperity in the years to come.
