Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde's 'X' account hack, Pakistan-Turkish flags posted

The official ‘X’ (former Twitter) handle of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was hacked on Sunday. Hackers posted pictures of Pakistan and Turkish flags on the account and also did live streaming.

This incident happened on a day when India and Pakistan were going to play their second match in the Asia Cup cricket tournament. It is believed that hackers did this action by taking advantage of this opportunity.

As soon as the information was received, the Deputy Chief Minister’s social media team immediately alerted the cyber crime police. Officials said it took about 30 to 45 minutes to secure the account and get back the control. At present, the account has been restored and suspicious activities have been removed.

Officials say the cyber cell has started investigation in view of the seriousness of the case. This is not the first time a social media account of a big political leader has been hacked. Even before this, accounts of many prominent personalities in the country and abroad have fallen victim to cyber attacks.

Experts recommend consistently vigilant and use security arrangements like two-factor authentication on increasing cyber attacks on social media accounts.
