Mumbai, June 21 (IANS). Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar on Sunday said the Mahayuti government is committed to the progress of Maharashtra with emphasis on public welfare and democratic dialogue.

Addressing a press conference on the eve of the monsoon session of the Maharashtra Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Pawar highlighted that in a democratic system the Assembly is the highest forum to address the expectations, questions and aspirations of the public.

He said that in the upcoming session, a wide-ranging discussion is expected on important matters related to public interest, development works and progress of the state.

He expressed confidence that the monsoon session will meet the expectations of the public, accelerate development and pave the way for decision-making in the best interest of the state.

He said that the Mahayuti government is committed to the overall development of Maharashtra and will ensure that public issues are raised in the House and addressed effectively.

Referring to the traditional high tea party organized on the eve of the session, Deputy Chief Minister Pawar said the event is an old and positive tradition aimed at promoting effective dialogue between the ruling coalition and the opposition, and not a mere formality.

He said that there may be differences, but dialogue is extremely important in a democracy. Constructive discussion and positive cooperation are necessary for the welfare of the public.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawar further said that all issues can be resolved through dialogue.

He said that the state government is ready to welcome every constructive suggestion from the opposition to find meaningful solutions to the public issues.

Due to the impact of El Nino, the state has not yet received the expected rainfall and the progress of monsoon remains slow.

In view of these circumstances, farmers have been advised not to rush in sowing and rely on the official forecasts issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) before taking any decision.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawar highlighted the recent distribution of the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to provide relief to farmers amid the delay in the recession.

He said that through this installment released online two days ago by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rs 1,817 crore was transferred directly into the bank accounts of about 91 lakh farmer families across Maharashtra.
