Patna, July 9 (IANS). Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Sudhakar Singh made serious allegations against the Bihar government regarding the proposed water park project in Motihari. He said that farmers’ land is being misused and the FIR lodged against them in this entire matter is an attempt to create political pressure. Along with this, he also supported the Ram Mandir donation controversy, the alleged paper leak case and the statements of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and targeted the central and state governments.
Sudhakar Singh said while talking to IANS that the biggest question in the Motihari case is that the case against him was filed by the accountant of the contractor instead of the government employee. If there was indeed obstruction to government work then the complaint should have been filed by a government official. The government should explain why the government employee did not lodge an FIR and on what basis the contractor’s accountant got this right.
He said that charges like pickpocketing, attempt to murder and strangulation have been leveled against him, while a large number of media persons, administrative officials and thousands of local people were present at the spot. If any such incident had happened, some video or direct evidence of it would have surfaced. Making such serious allegations against an MP without any concrete evidence raises questions on the democratic system. If this can happen to an MP then the situation of common citizens can be easily estimated.
The RJD MP said that he has already approached the High Court regarding the land acquisition matter. The court has accepted the case and issued a notice, but despite this the construction work was not stopped. The court’s intention was to maintain the status quo, but the administration did not follow it. He demanded from the government that the matter should be investigated impartially and unnecessary sections imposed against him should be removed. If this does not happen then they will again approach the court.
He said that he can raise his objection separately on the section of obstructing government work, but allegations like attempt to murder and pickpocketing are completely baseless. The government is trying to scare them, but they have neither been scared before nor will they be scared in the future. They will continue their fight against corruption and dishonesty.
Supporting Rahul Gandhi’s statement on the paper leak issue, Sudhakar Singh said that Rahul Gandhi has expressed his views on the basis of facts and evidence. The opposition was first waiting for the government’s action, because the examination process was being monitored at a high level and the army was responsible for delivering the question papers. But when signs of irregularities emerged, it was no longer possible for the opposition to remain silent. Rahul Gandhi has solid evidence in this regard and this is not just a political allegation. Giving the example of 50 fake candidates being caught in Lakhisarai, Bihar, he said that indications of irregularities had already been found and now new facts have come to light.
Sudhakar Singh also made a scathing attack on the Ram Mandir donation controversy. He alleged that the entire amount of donations collected by issuing receipts from village to village did not reach Ayodhya. He claimed that this is a matter of approximately Rs 10 thousand crores. There have been alleged irregularities in donation collection, construction work and even offerings in the temple. For this reason some people do not want this matter investigated. He has filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Supreme Court in this entire matter, in which a demand has been made to make public the complete account of donations received from across the country. When the list of donors and details of funds are revealed, it will become clear whose money has reached where.
On the question asked about Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the Ram Temple issue, Sudhakar Singh said that Rahul Gandhi is a devout Hindu and when the time comes, he will express his views on this issue also. So many big issues have been raised simultaneously in the country that the opposition has to respond continuously on every issue.
Speaking on the role of the opposition, Sudhakar Singh said that the Leader of the Opposition is active on every issue, but the number of problems in the country is so high that it is not possible for one person to be present everywhere. Cases of encroachment of thousands of acres of land are coming to light every day in many parts of the country including Bihar and there are many other serious issues too. Democracy does not depend on any one person, but runs on collective responsibility.
