Bhopal, 22 November (IANS). When the Madhya Pradesh government sought suggestions from the people for the upcoming general budget, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Umang Singhar raised questions and said that the government should first tell what happened to the previous budget.
Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Umang Singhar, while putting the state government in the dock, said that the government is asking the public what to keep in the budget? Whereas the truth is that in the last budget itself there was no concrete provision for farmers, Dalits, tribals, backward classes and youth.
He alleged that plans are made only on paper, but provisions are not made in the budget. There is talk of making a technologically strong Madhya Pradesh, but zero investment on IT, innovation and modern facilities.
Umang Singhar further said that helicopters, charter planes, luxury vehicles and bungalows have become the real priority of the government. He raised the question that the farmers are in the same place, the youth are unemployed. Will the government give money for roads, hospitals, schools and transformers? Or are there preparations to bring another false budget?
Umang Singhar expressed strong objection to the pickup of Congress worker Manjit Ghoshi from Madhya Pradesh by Delhi-Rajasthan Police. He asked, “Is raising questions on SIR scams now a crime? Has speaking the truth become inflammatory?”
He said that when work is being done on the old list of 2003, when neither delimitation was done nor Lok Sabha and Assembly were formed, then even the general public is asking questions. Forms are not being distributed, names are not being added, people are worried. Aadhaar card was made in the name of national security, then why is the same Aadhaar not in the voter list? I support the questions raised by Manjeet. If the BJP government or the Election Commission puts pressure on those who raise the voice of democracy, the Congress party will stand firmly with them.
Umang Singhar said that Congress in the state stands with the people on both the budget and SIR fronts and this fight will be fought with full strength.
