NDA first choice in Tamil Nadu, DMK steeped in corruption and dynasty: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said a strong and united National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is Tamil Nadu’s preferred option compared to the “corruption and dynastic politics” of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

Highlighting the highlights of his Friday program on X, Prime Minister Modi wrote, “A strong and united NDA is the first choice of the people in Tamil Nadu. People want good governance, not DMK’s corruption and dynastic politics!”

During his rally, Prime Minister Modi fiercely targeted the ruling DMK-led alliance in election-bound Tamil Nadu and said that the countdown for its ouster from power has started and a BJP-NDA government will be formed in the state.

Taking several digs at the DMK, he said the party had betrayed the public trust and accused it of indulging in corruption. He said people were calling the DMK government a “CMC (corruption, mafia, crime) government”.

He stressed, “You gave full majority to DMK twice, but they broke the trust of the people of Tamil Nadu. DMK made a lot of promises but did no work. People are now calling DMK government as CMC government. CMC government means a government which promotes ‘corruption, mafia and crime’. The people of Tamil Nadu have now made up their mind to uproot both DMK and CMC. Here is the double engine government of BJP-NDA.” Coming to power is certain.”

He alleged that Tamil Nadu has a government that lacks “democratic values and accountability”.

However, Chief Minister MK Stalin also hit back, taking a dig at the BJP’s slogan of “double engine government” and terming it a “dappa engine”, adding that it “will not work” in Tamil Nadu.

Stalin said in a post on X, “The ‘Dappa Engine’ that the Prime Minister talks about will not work in Tamil Nadu!”

Responding to Prime Minister Modi’s remarks at Madurantakam, Stalin claimed that only states without the BJP’s “double engine” government are “moving faster” in development.
