Bhubaneswar, 15 September (IANS). The Odisha government will plant 75 lakh saplings in a single day on 17 September on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
This campaign, titled ‘A tree mother’s name 2.0’, aims to respect the Prime Minister and promote environmental stability.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a high -level preparation meeting at Public Service Bhavan on Monday, reviewing the preparations with senior officials and district collectors.
He described the plantation campaign as an ‘soulful tribute’ to the Prime Minister on behalf of the people of Odisha.
The Chief Minister said, “All should participate in it from elected representatives to students, from youth to women groups. This ambitious goal can be achieved only with collective efforts.”
The Chief Minister encouraged all citizens to plant a tree, take a selfie with him and to enter their contribution to my life portal and other social media platforms.
Participants will receive digital certificates through the portal. The plantation will be done in all districts and areas from sunrise to sunset, including government departments, educational institutions, NGOs, industries, banks and community groups.
This huge tree plantation campaign will participate in 15 lakh students, 2 lakh teachers, 76,000 Anganwadi workers, 17,000 ASHA workers, 10,000 eco-club, 17,500 forest conservation committees, 1 lakh NSS volunteers, 16,500 Mai Bharat Youth Swayamsevaks, thousands of self-help groups and corporate volunteers.
Goals have been set for plantation to various departments of the government including police force.
Recalling the achievement of Odisha in the first edition of the campaign, Chief Minister Majhi said that the state had planted 6.72 crore trees last year, which was fourth at the national level. By 2025, a target is to plant 7.5 crore trees, out of which 4.65 crore trees have already been planted.
The Chief Minister highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s attitude of self -reliant and developed India and appreciated his role in speeding up Odisha’s development.
The Chief Minister said, “His leadership for five decades has been transformative and inspiring for generations.”
