Odisha: Vigilance raids at five locations of Vimsar officer in disproportionate assets case

Bhubaneswar/Sambalpur, June 30 (IANS). Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday raided five places linked to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Vimsar) officer Dhanurdhar Biswal in Sambalpur district in a disproportionate assets case.

Dhanurdhar Biswal is posted as Establishment Officer-cum-Office Superintendent, Burla in Vimsar. He is accused of acquiring assets beyond his income.

According to the information, this raid is being conducted on the basis of search warrant issued by the Special Judge (Vigilance), Sambalpur. Vigilance officials say that during the search operation, records related to movable and immovable properties, bank accounts, investments, important documents and other financial transactions of Biswal are being examined. The purpose of the investigation is to find out whether the assets are in line with their legitimate income or not.

Odisha Vigilance has formed a special team for this operation. The team includes two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP), five inspectors, three Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) and other support staff. All the officers are conducting search operations simultaneously at different locations, so that the investigation can be completed fairly and effectively.

The five places where the Vigilance team is searching include Dhanurdhar Biswal’s two-storey residence in Dhankouda, Sambalpur, one of his buildings in Gudesinga, his official residence in the Medical Staff Colony of Vimsar Burla and his office room in the Superintendent’s office of Vimsar. Documents, property records and other evidence are being closely examined at all these places.

According to sources, documents and other materials found during the search will be evaluated. If the investigation finds sufficient evidence of disproportionate assets, the Vigilance Department will take further legal action. At present, the authorities have not shared any official information regarding the recovery or the value of the property.

Till the time of writing the news, the search operation is going on at all the places. Detailed information and official statement from Odisha Vigilance is awaited. Only after the investigation is completed will it be clear what further action will be taken in this matter.
