Patna, June 6 (IANS). Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) founder Jitan Ram Manjhi reacted to the Bihar government’s decision to cut the security of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi. He said that security related decisions fall under the jurisdiction of the government and are taken keeping in mind the overall security needs.
Talking to journalists on Saturday, Jitan Ram Manjhi said that the government takes decisions keeping in mind the safety of all the people. He said that giving security or making changes in it is part of the administrative process. If anyone has any objection to this decision, he should respectfully present his views before the government. He clearly said that it is not appropriate to agitate or protest on this issue.
In fact, Bihar Home Department has recently issued an order and decided to cut the security given to Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. This decision was taken after reviewing the security arrangements by the State Security Committee. According to the state government, this step was taken based on the recommendations made in the committee meeting held on June 4.
Under the government order, ‘Y’ category security given to Lalu Yadav’s elder son and former minister Tej Pratap Yadav has also been abolished.
RJD targeted the government regarding this decision. The party alleges that the decision to cut security is motivated by political malice and is an attempt to target senior opposition leaders. RJD leaders say that reducing the security of prominent leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi gives a wrong message. He has also raised questions on the timing of the decision.
The controversy gained further strength when political tension increased over the family’s official residence, 10 Circular Road. Opposition leaders and RJD workers expressed their support by protesting on this issue.
However, the Bihar government has clarified that the security changes are purely part of the administrative process and are based on the recommendations of the official security review mechanism and not for any political reason.
