New Delhi, March 2 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to Jordan’s King Abdullah-II over telephone and expressed deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Middle East.
This conversation has taken place at a time when the military conflict between America, Israel and Iran has intensified and neighboring countries have also become vulnerable to retaliatory attacks and missile attacks.
Giving information on the social media platform ‘X’, the Prime Minister said that he discussed the regional situation with the King of Jordan and reiterated India’s support for the peace, security and welfare of the people of Jordan.
PM Modi also thanked King Abdullah II for ensuring the safety and care of the Indian community living in Jordan during the current crisis.
It is being told that Jordan has also been affected by this conflict. Several missiles were intercepted in its airspace, resulting in reports of injuries and damage to property at some places.
In view of the security situation, Jordan has decided to partially close its airspace at night as a precautionary measure, so as to keep civil aviation safe. Other countries in the region have also imposed restrictions on flights in view of the increased risk.
This conversation with King Abdullah II comes after PM Modi’s discussions with the leaders of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, in which he condemned the attacks on their sovereignty and expressed India’s solidarity.
It is clear from these high-level contacts that India is giving top priority to the security of its large overseas Indian community amid increasing tensions in West Asia and is also advocating regional stability and reducing tension.
The widespread crisis has disrupted international flights, imposed restrictions on airspace in many countries and raised concerns about trade routes, energy supplies and the safety of civilians.
India has consistently appealed for restraint, dialogue and peaceful resolution in international forums. Prime Minister Modi once again underlined the traditionally strong bilateral relations between India and Jordan, which are based on mutual respect and cooperation.
