Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded the tireless efforts made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers for more than four decades, emphasizing that the party’s journey is a testament to its dedication towards public service and good governance.

On the occasion of BJP’s 47th Foundation Day, Prime Minister Modi extended warm wishes to party workers across the country and underlined their unwavering commitment, dedication and passion towards serving the society.

In a post on Twitter, PM Modi wrote, “Heartiest greetings to all BJP workers across the country on the party’s foundation day. Our party has always been a leader in social service, inspired by the principle of ‘India First’. Our workers are known for selfless service, unwavering dedication and deep passion for good governance.”

He further said, “The workers have worked tirelessly at the grassroots level, ensuring that more and more people remain connected to our ideology and work. We also remember the countless workers whose dedication, sacrifice and perseverance have shaped the growth of the party over the decades.”

The Prime Minister also emphasized that the BJP aims to take India towards the dream of a “developed India” by keeping the interests and welfare of the people at the center of its vision.

He wrote in his post, “BJP is a party that puts public welfare at the center of its vision. This is reflected in our actions at the Center and in various states. BJP is committed to building a developed India. Hope our collective resolve will continue to carry forward this vision and take India to new heights of progress and prosperity.”

Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted party workers on the BJP’s foundation day and reiterated the party’s core mantra of “nation first, party second, self last”.

In a post on Twitter, Shah highlighted the BJP’s efforts in securing India’s borders, strengthening internal security, setting development benchmarks and reviving the historical and cultural essence of the country.

Amit Shah wrote on Twitter, “Whether it is securing the country’s borders, strengthening internal security, setting new standards of development, or reviving the historical essence and vibrant spirit of Indian culture – the BJP has realized all these resolves through its actions. The basic mantra of the BJP has always been clear: ‘Nation first, Party later, Self last’. With this basic spirit, every worker of the BJP is dedicated to the service of the nation day and night.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party has its origins in the Jana Sangh, which merged with the Janata Party in 1977 after the Emergency with the aim of defeating the Congress.

Later, the issue of dual membership arose between members of the RSS and the Jan Sangh, with demands that the Jan Sangh members either leave the Janata Party or the RSS membership. Due to this issue, Jan Sangh members left the Janata Party and officially founded the BJP on 6 April 1980.

Since the formation of the BJP, it has given two Prime Ministers, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi.
