Srinagar, October 21 (IANS). On the occasion of Police Memorial Day, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir Police at the Police Memorial in Jewan, Srinagar. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also paid his tribute by honoring the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor described Jammu and Kashmir Police as an example of duty, discipline, loyalty and selfless service. He said, “Our brave police personnel always put the development of the nation and the safety of citizens above their own lives. Their deep love for the tricolor is the root cause of their sacrifice for the motherland.”
He appreciated the commitment of the police in facing challenges like terrorism, crime, and natural disasters and said that their sacrifice inspires future generations to serve the country.
The Lieutenant Governor called for constant vigilance and preparedness from Jammu and Kashmir Police against terrorist threats. He appealed to the five pillars of the criminal justice system, police, prosecution, judiciary, forensics and prisons, to work unitedly and ensure justice. Also, he stressed on innovation and adoption of smart technology to respond to new crime trends, drug trafficking and false propaganda.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated his commitment towards the welfare of the policemen and their families. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is running several welfare programs to ensure a dignified life for the families of the martyrs. On this occasion, DGP Nalin Prabhat read out the names of policemen who were martyred in the line of duty. Arms were lowered and two minutes of silence was observed in honor of the martyrs. The Lieutenant Governor also visited the blood donation camp.
At the same time, the post shared by the Chief Minister’s Office said, “The Chief Minister paid tribute to the martyrs at Jewan, Srinagar on Police Memorial Day and honored their sacrifice.”
The glorious legacy of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the sacrifice of the martyrs is an inspiration for the country. The Lieutenant Governor expressed his gratitude to the police and their families for protecting the citizens and maintaining the rule of law.
