After BJP’s historic victory in West Bengal, preparations to form a new government have intensified. The first BJP Chief Minister of the state and his cabinet members will take oath on May 9 at the famous Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. Before this, there will be a BJP Legislature Party meeting after 3:00 pm on May 8, in which the leader will be elected. This leader will take oath as the Chief Minister.

Tension is increasing due to post-election violence

Meanwhile, political activities have also intensified regarding the incidents of post-poll violence across the state. Samik Bhattacharya, Secretary to the BJP State President, is actively engaged in discussing these issues and is closely monitoring the situation. According to sources, this particular date was chosen primarily because of the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, which adds to the cultural significance of the event. Also, the Election Commission has issued a notification regarding the formation of the new assembly after the completion of the election process; This notification has been sent to the Governor. With this, the election process in the state has been formally completed, and now the way for forming the new government has been completely cleared.

Who has been appointed as observer by BJP?

To oversee the government formation process, the BJP has appointed Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the central observer and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi as the co-observer. Both these leaders will meet the newly elected MLAs to finalize the names of the Chief Minister’s post and the cabinet.

According to sources, Amit Shah is expected to reach Kolkata on Thursday so that he can attend the assembly party meeting. In the recently concluded elections, BJP secured a huge mandate by winning 207 seats, while TMC was reduced to just 80 seats. In this backdrop, the party is now moving rapidly towards forming a new government with the support of a strong leadership.
