The controversy regarding ‘Vande Mataram’ that started during the budget session of Indore Municipal Corporation is not going away. There was a political uproar in Madhya Pradesh when Congress councilors Rubina Iqbal Khan and Fauzia Sheikh Aleem refused to sing the national anthem citing religious reasons. Terming the incident as “unfortunate”, the Chief Minister has targeted the top leadership of the Congress party. He stressed that in view of this incident, the entire state unit of the Congress party should resign. He argued that the Congress party remains unable to give up its “double standards”.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that the women councilors of Indore Municipal Corporation have crossed all limits of shamelessness. “It is with great regret that I have to say this: A Congress councilor refused to sing ‘Vande Mataram’ inside the Municipal Corporation and—with complete shamelessness—announced, ‘I will not sing it.’ This says a lot about the real character of the Congress Party. Congress councilors even refuse to say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.” He demanded that state Congress president Jitu Patwari, as well as National Congress president and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, clarify on the matter. He challenged them to explain why the party keeps promoting such people.
Why is the state Congress president silent?
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav asked, “In what direction do these people want to take the country? They insult the patriots. Thousands of patriots have sacrificed their lives while chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. I am deeply saddened by this incident and there is deep anger in my mind regarding this entire matter. Why is State President Jitu Patwari—who usually gives his opinion on every issue—now silent on this matter? What is his stand on the comments made by the Congress councilor? If Patwari and If other Congress leaders fail to take any disciplinary action in this regard, the entire leadership should resign.”
Congress party’s double standards
CM Yadav said, “Time and again, Congress members are seen insulting Lord Ram and belittling Hindus. But now, they have really crossed all limits. Our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has won the hearts of the entire nation by highlighting the importance of the six verses of ‘Vande Mataram’. Yet, the Congress party is caught in the trap of its own double standards. The Congress party has been creating controversies over ‘Vande Mataram’ since the pre-independence era. Is.” “His government had simply removed five verses.”
