New Delhi, May 26 (IANS). People’s attention is on the health of US President Donald Trump ahead of his 80th birthday next month, so his regular annual medical and dental examination took place at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday.
Trump stayed at Walter Reed for more than two and a half hours after his motorcade arrived in Bethesda, Maryland, at 8:51 a.m., according to a White House pool report. His convoy left at 12:27 pm.
The White House said the appointment included Trump’s “routine annual dental and medical assessment” as part of his routine preventive health care. The visit was Trump’s third scheduled medical appointment at Walter Reed in the past 13 months.
The White House said Trump met with military personnel and staff during his visit to the medical center.
President Trump will turn 80 on June 14. The US President has been facing increasing public scrutiny over his health in recent months. The New York Times reported that during recent public appearances, visible bruises on his hands and swelling in his legs have been noticed.
The White House attributed the injuries to repeated handshakes, while doctors said the swelling in Trump’s legs was related to chronic venous insufficiency, a condition that affects blood flow in the veins.
The Hill reported that Trump had a CT scan during a previous visit to Walter Reed. However, his medical team tried to “completely rule out any cardiovascular problems”. According to the report, Trump’s doctor, Dr. Sean Barbella, said that the scan was completely normal and showed no abnormalities at all.
Trump takes about 325 milligrams of aspirin daily to “prevent heart disease.” Trump had earlier told The Wall Street Journal in an interview that aspirin caused bruises on his hands.
White House doctors are expected to release a summary of the investigation, although presidential medical disclosures have previously varied in detail and transparency.
Trump has repeatedly answered questions about his age and health and has frequently attacked former President Joe Biden over his fitness during the 2024 presidential campaign.
The issue of age became a major focus in the last election, as both Trump and Biden became the oldest major party presidential candidates in US history.
