President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday extended warm greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of Holi and expressed wishes for the happiness and prosperity of all citizens.
In a post on X, he said that Holi, the festival of colours, spreads love and optimism, as well as strengthens unity and brotherhood among the people. He wished that Holi brings happiness in everyone’s life and inspires collective efforts towards building a developed India.
President Murmu wrote on his message, “On my behalf, I wish all the countrymen a very happy Holi. This festival of colors infuses love and hope in the lives of people and strengthens mutual unity and brotherhood. I wish that this festival brings happiness in everyone’s life and we all together contribute in building a developed nation.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished Holi and said that this festival fills the atmosphere with new energy and enthusiasm. In his message he said that the vibrant colors of the festival seen all around are a symbol of joy and positivity, filling everyone with enthusiasm and happiness.
Prime Minister Modi’s X post said, “The festival of Holi fills the entire atmosphere with new energy. This is the biggest feature of this festival. The scattering of colors of happiness everywhere, visible all around, fills everyone with enthusiasm and joy.”
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday greeted the people and described the festival as a “symbol of the thousand-year-old heritage” of India, which has been preserved and carried forward with new energy by the present generation.
Speaking to ANI, the Chief Minister said, “I extend my warm wishes to everyone. The ancestors of India have handed over this thousand-year-old heritage to us. The present generation is taking it forward with the same energy. The entire state is connecting with this holy festival.”
He further said that efforts are on to ensure a harmonious society.
He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for linking heritage with progress and realizing the dreams of ‘self-reliant India’.
Yogi Adityanath said, “Today Uttar Pradesh and the entire country are moving forward with confidence; we are seeing a new India, an India which is moving towards becoming a developed India. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country has seen the confluence of heritage and progress. We are proud that in the golden age of independence, we have received the guidance of a leader like Prime Minister Modi. Under his leadership, India is realizing its dreams of becoming a developed India and a self-reliant India.”
It is noteworthy that Holi symbolizes the arrival of spring and the harvest season. This festival is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology and symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
The festival of Holi begins with the ritual of lighting the fire known as Holika Dahan. The next day is the more widely celebrated form of Holi, when people indulge in joy and togetherness by playing with colors.
This year the ‘Festival of Colours’ is being celebrated on two different days.
