Pressure is being put on BLO in West Bengal: Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary

पश्चिम बंगाल में बीएलओ पर दबाव बनाया जा रहा है: अधीर रंजन चौधरी

Murshidabad, December 9 (IANS). Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhary has claimed that pressure is being put on the BLOs engaged in the second phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in West Bengal.

The Congress leader said that the state government and the Election Commission are putting pressure.

While talking to the media in Murshidabad, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said that there is pressure on the BLO from the ruling party of West Bengal and on top of that there is also pressure from the Election Commission. Amidst the pressure from both sides, these poor people are unable to think where to go. There is fear here and there too.

He said that SIR has happened before also, but no one has suffered any problem. SIR has been done 8 times till now. There has never been such a situation in the country that BLOs are running away, committing suicide, or having to go to the Supreme Court for the protection of BLOs. Such a situation has never arisen in India, which has arisen at present.

He suggested that one should work patiently for SIR. All arrangements should be carefully observed. All action should have been taken by providing adequate resources.

On the speech of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary said that it would be better for the BJP people inside the House to learn a little from the speech given by Priyanka Gandhi on Monday.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court issued notice on a petition seeking appointment of central forces for the security of booth level officers involved in the SIR process in West Bengal. However, during the hearing, the Chief Justice said that we are worried that many politicians are reaching the Supreme Court on this issue. It seems that this platform is highlighting them.

On this, the Congress leader said that there is definitely pressure on BLOs in Bengal who are also government employees.
